Yanni Hufnagel has become one of the greatest Jewish-born basketball coaches in the country. Nevada currently has employed him as an assistant coach, working alongside head coach Eric Musselman. He was originally hired last April. Yanni Hufnagel has been interested in sports since he was a kid.

Yanni Hufnagel was born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. When was was little, he would read any book on coaching he could find. He would later use basketball player figures to recreate the plays mentioned in the book. Yanni Hufnagel started his sports career by calling games for his local public television station.

Yanni Hufnagel would later be picked up by his alma mater Cornell University to be a basketball manager. During the summer he took part in an internship with the New Jersey Nets. Upon graduation from Cornell, he was hired by Oklahoma basketball coach Jeff Capel, who was very interested in him and immediately interviewed and hired them.

Jeff Capel later recommended Yanni Hufnagel to Harvard, where he became a volunteer assistant coach of Harvard’s basketball program. Yanni Hufnagel immediately hit the road recruiting players across the country. He has become an expert in convincing players to join his team and promote the school’s program. Because of his lengthy experience, Hufnagel has received job offers from dozens of top-notch schools.

Yanni Hufnagel has spent eight years as an assistant coach with Harvard, Vanderbilt, California and most recently Nevada. In 2013, he coached Team USA’s Youth Team at the Maccabiah Games, where the team won a gold medal.

Yunni Hufnagel earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell and earned a Master’s Degree from Oklahoma.
