Being the one kid in school that has a chronic illness is not very fun, and it was even harder in the 90s because there was no digital technology. I had no one to talk to about what was going on, and school kids can be mean. My family was trying to find any way to make me feel less lonely, but I know it was really hard for them. All that changed when they ran across Eric Pulier and then he showed me that I could meet kids from around the world who are just like me. I actually have still kept up these friendships to this day, and I have been telling everyone who will listen how great Starbright World.
My family had a computer in the house, and Eric Pulier set it up so that I could talk to other kids that were on the same network. I met kids that had the same problems I did in school, and I also had an idea of what it must have been like to be these other kids. These kids were just like me, and I met two kids who had the same disease I had. Having a chronic condition is literally one of the worst things in the world when you are a kid, and I finally had a crew.
I was able to meet these kids not long after we started, and Pulier helped us with that, too. He made it so that I could know people who could help me through school, and they gave me the confidence to get out of school and go to college. They helped me get a job, and I even work with one of them today. He is a great guy who wants the best for other people, and I literally owe all my success to him and his innovations he shared with us.
